Western Eagles Theme Song

When Wests come charging through the pack,
HOORAH HOORAH,
We’ll give ’em a mighty welcome back,
HOORAH HOORAH,
The crowd will roar the boy’s will win
‘cos victorys great and losings a sin
and they all stepped back when Eagles come
charging through.
We won the game we won the fight,
HOORAH HOORAH
We let them feel the Eagles’ might
HOORAH HOORAH
The ball was bounced and in we went
and down they went like we cement
and they all stepped back when
Wests come charging through!!

THE STORY BEHIND THE WESTERN EAGLES CLUB SONG

Have you ever wondered where our club song came from?

Former Western Eagles player Dean Bone recently shared the story behind the song we proudly sing today.

Back in 1991, Dean was on a trip to Bali with three mates from Scotts Creek Football Club when they met a group of 35 players from the Sydney Western Suburbs Australian Rules Football Club. The group quickly adopted them as honorary members, and every night was filled with great times, plenty of laughs, and one song in particular.

Wherever they went – bars, nightclubs, and tourist spots – the Western Suburbs club song was sung loud and proud. It became a favorite among both the locals and fellow travelers.

A couple of years later, when the Western Eagles Football Netball Club was formed, the club found itself without an official song. While there was strong support from some Pirron Yallock supporters to adopt the Tigers song, another idea emerged.

Dean contacted his friends from the Western Suburbs club, who were more than happy to share the words and tune of their song. The rest, as they say, is history.

And that’s how the Western Eagles club song was born!

A big thank you to Dean for sharing this wonderful piece of club history with us. It’s stories like these that help keep our club’s traditions alive and connect generations of Eagles.
